When you place a # before a person's or business' name, KnowledgeNet will prompt you to tag those references as contacts or accounts. Tags are how KnowledgeNet tracks references to people and businesses so that it’s easy to find information in the future, organize related information, and communicate with everyone on the network following that topic.

For example, look at how the # symbol is used to tag the names of the companies and people discussed in this call report write-up.

To add a hash tag while writing a post:

  1. Type a # and begin typing the company or individual's name. KnowledgeNet will drop down a menu of possible matches.

  2. If a record exists for that account or contact, all you need to do is select the correct match. KnowledgeNet will do the rest. Your tagged item will appear highlighted.

  3. If you do not see the account or contact listed, you have the option to "Create New Accounts" or "Create New Contacts."
